GRAND RAPIDS — The Highland Group of Grand Rapids LLC, a digital marketing firm headquartered in the Cherry Hill neighborhood, has earned certified B Corporation status, according to a statement.
The designation, administered by Wayne, Pa.-based nonprofit B Lab, demonstrates through reporting and third-party verification that companies meet “rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.” To get certified, a company must get a minimum score of 80 on B Lab’s performance measurements, as well as meet certain legal requirements.
The Highland Group received a score of 86 according to its scorecard on the B Lab website.
“We became a B Corp because (we) want to hold ourselves to high standards of performance, transparency and accountability,” said Scott Crowley, managing partner of The Highland Group in a statement. “The B Corp assessment helps us measure our performance against these high standards, and gives us a yardstick for continuous improvement.”
There are more than 1,785 certified B Corps around the world. Locally, The Highland Group joins organizations such as 616 Lofts LLC, Brewery Vivant, Bazzani Building Co., Catalyst Partners LLC and Cascade Engineering Inc.
