Tesa Tape to invest $20M in Sparta expansion

SPARTA — A West Michigan manufacturer of adhesive tapes will invest $20 million to expand production at its facility in Sparta.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Tesa Tape Inc. plans to begin construction on the 24,000-square-foot expansion immediately at its facility located at 324 S. Union Ave. in Sparta, according to a statement.

The project will result in 15 new jobs.

Tesa Tape will use the additional space to house “environmentally-friendly” coating, adhesive mixing and converting technology.

The company aims to finish the project in summer 2017, according to the statement.

In December 2015, Tesa Tape opened its Tesa Automotive Solution Center in Novi. The company also operates a warehouse facility in Walker, a suburb of Grand Rapids.

Tesa Tape is a subsidiary of Hamburg, Germany-based Beiersdorf AG, a manufacturer of adhesives and personal care products.
