GRCC President to retire in 2017

GRAND RAPIDS — Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) will be on the hunt for a new president in 2017 as its current president, Steve Ender prepares for retirement.

Ender’s retirement, which is expected to occur on June 30, 2017 when his current contract expires, was announced today in a statement by GRCC.

“I have been blessed to have had a more than 40-year career working in higher education the past seven at GRCC,” Ender said. “But, the time has come where I decided that my next step is retirement. I do not want this announcement to overshadow all of the great things we will do at the college during the coming year. However, I have made my decision and wanted to share it with the campus community sooner rather than later.”

GRCC will begin searching for its president immediately, said Bert Bleke, GRCC board of trustees chairperson.

Ender has served at GRCC since 2009.
