Resthaven Plans New Community

HOLLAND — Resthaven Patrons Inc. announced today that it plans to build a continuing care retirement community that blends independent and assisted living facilities on a 20-acre campus.

Resthaven, a nonprofit, community-based senior care organization,  has secured 29 acres of land adjacent to Van Raalte Park in Holland for is new development, called Cottage Grove at Van Raalte Woods.

Over the next several months, Resthaven intends to talk with interested seniors in order to refine the nature and scope of the project and to establish a waiting list. Formal sales of senior living opportunities are expected to occur in June 2004, with occupancy scheduled for 2006.

Resthaven unveiled the new development plans at a community meeting this morning at the Alpen Rose Restaurant. The Resthaven management team and board of directors were on hand to solicit feedback and suggestions on Cottage Grove from community members.

“Since we first opened our doors in 1944, Resthaven has developed facilities and programs that address the needs and reflect the values of seniors in our lakeshore community,” said Charles Vander Brock, president and CEO of Resthaven. “The addition of Cottage Grove is a natural extension of our mission and allows us to close a gap in our continuum of service offering while addressing a real need in our community.”
