BarFly completes $5M raise, plans 3-4 new HopCat locations in 2017

BarFly Ventures LLC, the parent company of the growing HopCat craft beer bar and restaurant chain, has raised another $5 million to continue its expansion. Executives at the company say the added capital will allow for the opening of three to four locations per year for the foreseeable future. Additionally, state filings show that a Detroit suburb could be on tap for a new HopCat location.

GRAND RAPIDS — BarFly Ventures LLC, the parent company that operates the growing HopCat craft beer bar chain, has secured a new $5 million investment to further its expansion in the Midwest, MiBiz has learned.

BarFly taps Brew Detroit for HopCat-branded beer, eyes statewide distribution

BarFly Ventures wants to expand the HopCat brand to its own packaged beers. The Grand Rapids-based bar and restaurant operator has partnered with contract brewery Brew Detroit LLC to manufacture and distribute the HopCat Beer Right Meow American India Pale Ale. The beverage could hit stores, bars and restaurants statewide via Imperial Beverage “in the next few months.”
