Mohamad E. El Mortada joins Metro Health

WYOMING — Dr. Mohamad El Mortada has joined Metro Health Hospital as its new director of infectious diseases.

In his new role, El Mortada will be responsible for the departments of Infectious Diseases and Infection Control. He is available for inpatient consultations at Metro Health as well as outpatient referrals. El Mortada’s areas of specialty focus on conditions related to infectious diseases including travel medicine.

El Mortada joins Metro Health from Hurley Medical Center in Flint, where he served as assistant director of infectious diseases. He also served as an assistant professor of medicine for both Hurley Medical Center and Michigan State University during his time in Flint.

El Mortada is board certified in infectious diseases as well as internal medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at St. Joseph Hospital at the University of Illinois in Chicago and fellowship training in infectious disease medicine at Michigan State University.

El Mortada is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

A native of Lebanon, he now resides in Byron Center.
