EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Jan. 5, 2012 – The East Grand Rapids Community Foundation (EGRCF) is proud to announce that Jason Madden, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and Athletic Development Officer at Davenport University, has been appointed President of the EGRCF beginning January of 2012.
Madden has lived in the East Grand Rapids (EGR) community for his entire life and has served EGRCF as a board member since 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Science and a Master of Business Administration in Accounting from Davenport University.
Throughout his term he has served on the fundraising committee, assisting in the funding of several large community projects, including the Reeds Lake Trail project and a memorial for Bruce VanPopering, a fallen EGR Public Safety Officer. The EGRCF regularly funds projects outside of the City’s budget to enhance the community. Madden succeeds Brian Miller, who stepped down as EGRCF President and moved into his new role as a recently elected EGR City Commissioner, third ward.
"Jason brings to this role a wealth of experience from both his professional career as well as his long tenure as a resident of EGR,” said Brian Miller, East Grand Rapids City Commissioner. “I am confident that he will help take the EGRCF to the next level and I am thrilled to step away from my time as President with Jason at the helm.”
About East Grand Rapids Community Foundation
Formed in 2000 by the East Grand Rapids City Commission, the EGR Community Foundation is now run by a 15-member Board of Directors with assistance from the city. The EGRCF identifies worthwhile projects in our community that are often outside the scope or scale of the city’s official budget.
Although a young organization building its endowment fund, the EGRCF has already funded several projects in East Grand Rapids and acted as a conduit for others. The Foundation has collected and held funds for the East Grand Rapids Community Center and the Reeds Lake Trail projects. In addition, the Foundation has provided grants for benches for the Gaslight Village Streetscape and Phase 1 and 2 of the Reeds Lake Trail, and assisted with downtown garden projects and new trailhead/marker maps on the Reeds Lake Trail.
