Donna PurvisCENTREVILLE-Donna Purvis is currently an adjunct instructor teaching Health Care Law and Ethics via online distance learning at Glen Oaks Community College. Purvis joined the college in May 2011. Students interested in allied health have quickly learned to pay close attention to Purvis because she has extensive experience in the industry, especially in finance and health care revenue.

Purvis earned a Bachelor degree in Health Care Administration at Baker College, where she is also completing a Masters of Business Administration. Her career began in 1994 at Sturgis Hospital. In 2001, Purvis continued her career in health care finance at Oaklawn Hospital, Marshall, and in 2009 with Hillsdale Community Health Center, Hillsdale. She was recently nominated and elected by the Board of Commissioners in Branch County to the Board of Trustees at the Community Health Center of Branch County.

As a part of her employment responsibilities Purvis helped direct workers in health care administration. “My passion is health care finance and I enjoyed assisting my fellow employees. Basically it was ‘teaching’ and I found it was something I was comfortable doing. I realized teaching was very rewarding,” said Purvis.

Soon she will take her enthusiasm and passion for health care finance to Glen Oaks classrooms. Purvis expects to begin teaching face-to-face next fall. “I am in teaching because I like what I do and I think students will agree. Helping people is what I like best,” Purvis said. Besides Health Care Ethics, Purvis may teach Medical Office Procedures and perhaps Medical Terminology.
