GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Jan. 31, 2012 – The J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FSB) and the U. S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has announced that a Fulbright Specialist Grant Candidacy has been awarded to Davenport University Professor of Management Dr. Jack D. Cichy, CM.
Dr. Cichy was recommended by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) Specialist Peer Review Committee and approved as a Fulbright Specialist candidate. A long-time faculty member in Davenport University’s Donald W. Maine College of Business, he joined the ranks of notable scholars in the prestigious Fulbright Specialist Program by being awarded a Specialist Candidacy in Sustainable Development. Fulbright Specialist award recipients are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement. Dr. Cichy will be one of about 400 select United States university faculty and professionals with the potential to travel abroad through the program.

GRAND RAPIDS — Aquinas College announces that Juan Olivarez, Ph.D., has accepted the position as president of Aquinas College. The news was formally announced today at a May 24 press conference at Holmdene Manor on the college’s campus. Dr. Olivarez, 61, becomes the school’s seventh president in 125 years, succeeding C. Edward Balog, Ph.D, who in January announced he will retire on June 30 of this year after serving three years as president at the private, Catholic college.
