HOLLAND, MI – The Board of Directors of the Holland Board of Public Works (HBPW) has selected David G. Koster as its new general manager. Dave Koster has twenty years’ experience in utility services, and currently serves as operations director at the Holland BPW.
The announcement was made by HBPW Board President Tim Hemingway. “Dave Koster brings a great combination of experiences to this position. The Board believes Koster’s operational experience, technical breadth, and commitment to customer service will be a great asset to the utility and to the community,” Hemingway said. Acceptance and terms of agreement pertaining to compensation and date of employment are pending.
David G. Koster began his tenure with the HBPW in 1991 as a power supply engineer. In this position he was responsible for the management of wholesale power transactions and performing management functions on capital and maintenance projects. In 1995, he was promoted to production engineering supervisor and to power resources director in 1998.
Koster was named operations director in 2007. Presently he is responsible for the plant operation functions of the water, wastewater and electric utilities, managing an annual operating budget of $62 million and 75 employees. He serves as a commissioner to the Michigan Public Power Agency (MPPA) and is a member of its Executive Committee.
Koster has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University, and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration at Grand Valley State University. Koster and his family are long-term area residents.
