GRAND RAPIDS — The West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum (WMSBF) is pleased to announce that Eric (Rick) Van Dellen, Sustainability Program Manager at Amway Corporation, has assumed the position of President of their Board of Directors. Rick held the office of Vice President last year. His term begins this month and continues through May 2012.
Rick joined Amway as a Research Chemist in R&D. He was involved in product development as a Senior Group Leader of Nutritional Analysis and Microbiology, and has published numerous papers in the fields of microbiology, nutritional analysis, and drinking water treatment. He has also managed Environment, Health and Product Safety. He received his BA and MA degrees from Western Kentucky University in chemistry. He is past Chairman of the Environmental Quality Committee for the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Air and Waste Management Association and the American Chemistry Society. “Rick brings a long history of involvement with the Forum, a depth of understanding of ‘sustainability’ issues, and a broad appreciation of local resources and challenges,” says Gayle DeBruyn, outgoing Board President. “His experience and leadership will be extremely valuable as we prepare for a very active year.”
Other Executive Committee appointments include: Gabe Wing, Director of Environmental Health & Safety for Herman Miller (Vice President); Alison Waske, Sustainable Business Officer for Metro Health (Treasurer); David Rinard, Director of Global Environmental Performance for Steelcase (Secretary).
