KALAMAZOO – When Amy Jones-Calderon moved from the metro Detroit area where she worked in the automotive industry to a job as financial advisor for Merrill Lynch in Kalamazoo, she struggled to find social and business connections in the area. Most networking events were too “sales-y” — geared for professionals working within marketing or sales, looking to develop business leads.
