Grand Rapids unveils 5 EV charging stations

GRAND RAPIDS — Mayor George Heartwell of Grand Rapids announced the availability of five charging stations for Plug-in Electrical Vehicles (PEV) in downtown Grand Rapids.

The stations were acquired through Coulomb Technologies Inc.’s Chargepoint America program that received $15 million in federal funding to install 4,800 charging stations around the country. Grand Rapids was able to apply for the stations by its participation in the West Michigan Energy Group.
