CHARLOTTE — Spartan Chassis Inc., a subsidiary of Spartan Motors Inc., announced in December that it received a multi-million dollar subcontract award from defense contractor BAE Systems. Spartan will support the production of advanced tactical vehicles and spare parts under the International Light Armored Vehicle (ILAV) Program.
Spartan COO Tom Gorman said in a statement that the deal is the latest step in the two companies’ ongoing relationship. The project is small in volume but includes many product variations, which fits with Spartan’s strategic plans in serving defense contractors, according to the statement.
