Kent RiddleCEO, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital
Grand Rapids

Riddle, a former Steelcase executive, took over  Mary Free Bed in March and led its move toward building a “world-class” network for statewide rehabilitation services.

“We already know that Medicare reimbursements to hospitals such as Mary Free Bed will remain flat, while Medicaid reimbursements will actually decrease. In fact, long-term and skilled nursing facilities have already seen a significant decline in their Medicare reimbursements. Despite these factors, I am bullish on the outlook for Mary Free Bed. Our new Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Network will allow us to continue to raise the standard of care while helping patients get back on their feet – and back to work – more quickly, which is good for our state’s economy. We have grown by more than 10 percent since establishing the network and anticipate that this growth will continue. Mary Free Bed will not sit still.”
