Tom FehsenfeldPresident, Crystal Flash Energy
Grand Rapids

One of the founding members of the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, Fehsenfeld drives sustainability and continuous improvement in his statewide fuel distribution company.

“Under the surface, I see a viable economic recovery forming in Michigan. One of our major businesses is selling diesel fuel, and diesel is a good index of the economy because it moves the goods. In the last few months, we are seeing some solid increases in year-to-year sales trends. It is spotty, but many of our commercial customers are starting to talk more optimistically about their businesses, too. If we can fix our formula to fund infrastructure in the state and nation, I believe the recovery could really catch fire. The one thing I will not do business-wise is to let fear rule our plans. Our world right now is full of opportunity, our people are excited about growth, and the banks have money to lend. We intend to invest and grow.”
